Working towards a no-kill community

Cat Haven began in 1999 as an all-volunteer grass roots group in response to a community need for comprehensive rescue, foster, and adoption services for cats and kittens. Twenty years later, we have grown to an organization with a staff of 6 employees, 300+ volunteers, and a state-of-the-art adoption center. Through collaborating with Companion Animal Alliance and other animal rescues, we hope to make Baton Rouge a no-kill community.

Rachel and her husband relocated from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in July of 2019. Prior to coming to Cat
Haven she worked in grant development and economic development for the State of Oklahoma. Rachel
holds a Master’s in Investigative Forensic Science from the University of Central Oklahoma. She has
three small lovable pups at home and one new Cat Haven addition. She loves cooking, watching
competitive cooking shows, and eating. She is a fierce advocate for the humane treatment of animals.

the shelter and oversees our network of foster volunteers. She makes her home in Baton Rouge with her
