About Us

Cat Haven is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization aimed at rescuing felines in our community and finding them forever homes.

For over 25 years, Cat Haven has served as a beacon of hope for unwanted cats and kittens in Greater Baton Rouge. Founded in 1999 as an all-volunteer grassroots effort relying on foster homes and pop-up adoption events, we have grown into a strong, professional organization with dedicated staff, more than 50 active volunteers, and our own welcoming adoption center. Our current 3,360-square-foot facility, which opened in 2008, has enabled us to proudly place more than 23,000 cats and kittens into loving forever homes - leading the way toward a compassionate future where every adoptable cat receives the safe haven and second chance they deserve.

Cat Haven is excited to announce the development of a new, 7,200-square-foot facility that will dramatically expand our ability to rescue, shelter, and place cats in loving homes. The new building will include a cage-free adoption environment with capacity for 125 cats and kittens, 23+ individual living spaces, a dedicated surgical suite, separate intake and medical evaluation rooms, and a cat café - the first of its kind in Baton Rouge.

Help bring our dream to life.
