Executive Director

Rachel and her husband relocated from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in July of 2019. Prior to coming to Cat Haven she worked in grant development and economic development for the State of Oklahoma. Rachel holds a Master’s in Investigative Forensic Science from the University of Central Oklahoma. She has three small lovable pups at home and one Cat Haven addition. She loves cooking, watching competitive cooking shows, and eating. She is a fierce advocate for the humane treatment of animals.


Development Manager

Jennifer recently moved to Baton Rouge, LA from Omaha, NE. She is a Mississippi-Native. She was blessed with a beautiful daughter and was recently married to her high school sweetheart. Jennifer attended Mississippi College where she received her Bachelor of Art in Public Relations. As the Development Manager for Cat Haven, Jennifer plans and promotes events and advocates for donors and sponsors. She has a background in broadcast media and healthcare recruiting. She has an adorable rescue pup that she named Carlos. Her passions include photography and traveling.


Operations Director

Samantha Hanks is a native of Maine who fell in love with Louisiana while attending Loyola University New Orleans, where she studied English Writing, French, and Biology. She is passionate about animals of all sizes, and has had the opportunity to work with quite a variety--from cats and dogs (both domestic and wild!) to rhinos and giraffes. As Cat Haven’s Operations Director, Sam manages all new intakes to the shelter and oversees our network of foster volunteers. She lives in Baton Rouge with her husband David, infant son, and feline companions Scottie and Shadow.


Shelter Manager

Ella, 21, is a native of Baton Rouge! She started working for Cat Haven a year ago as an Animal Care Specialist and was recently promoted to Shelter Manager. As Shelter Manager, she plays a big part in making Cat Haven successful and also serves as Volunteer Coordinator. Ella is currently studying Natural Resources and Ecology Management at LSU. She has a 3-year-old cat at home named Frankie! In her free time, Ella likes to hike, paint, fish, and sing. She is compassionate towards all living beings. 


Adoption Manager

She is originally from Gilbert, AZ and moved to Denham Springs in 2012. She started working with Cat Haven in 2019 as a Animal Care Specialist and was promoted shortly after. Her favorite thing about working at Cat Haven is getting to educate the public on how to properly care for their felines and finding them fur-ever homes! Kylie has two beautiful rescue kittens, Charlie and Ellie. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, fostering, and spending time with her family!

Animal Care Specialist

Holly, a native of California, moved to Baton Rouge in 2014. She is a mother to two sweet boys named Grayson and Owen. She also has a fur-baby named Atlas! Before coming to Cat Haven, she worked as a bartender. She chose to change careers because she wanted to pursue something she was passionate about.. animals! Holly hopes to study to become a vet tech. 


Animal Care Specialist

Briana, 24, is a Louisiana native who cares deeply for animals. She recently graduated from LSU with a degree in Animal Science. She has her own rescue cat at home named Stella. Briana came to Cat Haven to learn more about felines and to advocate for those who don't have an owner to advocate for them!
