Grant of $15,000 will extend efforts to save more animal lives in Greater Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, (December 1, 2016) – Cat Haven of Greater Baton Rouge today announced it has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support the renovation and expansion of its Adoption Center at 11130 N. Harrell’s Ferry Road in Baton Rouge.
Cat Haven is a nonprofit organization dedicated to leading Baton Rouge in becoming a “no-kill” community for cats and kittens. Since 1999, Cat Haven has sheltered and found homes for over 10,000 cats and kittens. Cat Haven pulls at-risk cats and kittens from the local municipal shelter facility as well as responding to requests for help from individuals who have found stray cats and kittens or who can no longer care for a beloved family pet. This year, Cat Haven will shelter and find new homes for over 1,200 homeless cats and kittens.
The Petco Foundation investment will help to expand the Cat Haven Adoption Center and renovate areas to upgrade medical treatment and isolation areas. It will help to increase the number of cats and kittens that the organization can help and improve their quality of life in the adoption facility while they await their permanent homes.
“It is so important to us to be able to save the lives of more cats and kittens and offer them a healthy and enriching environment in their temporary home. Our expanded Adoption Center will invite potential adopters to interact with our cats and kittens, adding to the enjoyment of people and kitties alike and leading to more adoptions. The support of the Petco Foundation reinforces our belief in the vision of a “no-kill” Baton Rouge and helps to make it possible.” said Wendy Decker, Executive Director.
